Then, we’ll change the pace and head toward the heart of the desert, where peace and vastness surround you. Few places in Morocco offer the epic sunrises and beautiful sunsets found among the towering sand dunes of the small village of Merzouga. Located in the relentless Sahara Desert near Erg Chebbi, this quiet destination is known for its iconic views, camel rides, the thrill of riding a quad bike across the dunes, and its Berber culture.

The more adventurous (and fit) travelers can try climbing the massive dunes surrounding Merzouga, while the less daring can enjoy an excursion by 4×4, quad, or camel. Among dunes and starry skies, you’ll discover the kasbahs — those earthen fortresses protected by UNESCO.
