This 3-day desert tour from Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Dunes offers an exciting adventure through some of Morocco’s most captivating landscapes. Departing from the vibrant city of Marrakech, you’ll travel across the majestic Atlas Mountains, passing through traditional Berber villages and scenic valleys that showcase the country’s authentic charm.
Along the way, visit several beautiful landmarks and ancient Kasbahs, including the iconic sites that tell stories of Morocco’s rich history and desert heritage. As the journey unfolds, the scenery gradually transforms from lush valleys to the vast, golden expanse of the Erg Chigaga Desert, one of the most remote and stunning dune fields in the Sahara.
Trip Plan
After pickup from your hotel or Riad in Marrakech, we will leave early in the morning on a 4x4 tour to the desert. We will cross the Tizi n Tichka pass, then we will visit the Kasbah of Telouet before descending towards the magnificent Ounila valley where we will take a break to visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. After the Tizi n'Tinifift pass we will cross the Draa valley passing by magnificent oases, palm trees and ksours. Night and dinner in Zagora.
After a short visit to the famous Koranic library of Tamegroute and the pottery workshops, we will continue our excursion to M'hamid el Ghizlane crossing magnificent sandy landscapes and desert vegetation. Arriving in Chegaga, we will go directly to a magnificent bivouac camp set up in the heart of the dunes. You will have the opportunity to take part in a camel ride in the dunes or take a short hike to admire the extraordinary landscapes of the dunes and the desert… Dinner and night in a Bivouac
After breakfast we will leave towards the foothills of the Anti-Atlas crossing the immense plateau LAKE IRIKI, Foum Zguid, Taznakht and Wawzguit or the capital of Berber carpets and saffron. We will also pass through Amerzegane to reach the Tizi N’Tichka pass on our way back to Marrakech.
