Breakfast. Full day with a guided visit in Fez, the artisanal and religious capital of Morocco. Fez was founded by Idris I in the 12th century and was for years the cultural capital and center of interest of the Almohads. It is one of the imperial cities with the greatest tourist interest for its history and craftsmanship, and one of the largest medinas in the Arab world; the madrasas, the souk (spectacular for the quantity and variety of spices), Karauin, the oldest university in the world, the mosques, squares, the Andalusian and potters’ quarters, palaces and museums. Fez is the artisanal capital of Morocco. Dinner and accommodation in the riad.
We will leave early from Fez towards Ifrane, crossing the Middle Atlas, the greenest part of Morocco. We will continue our journey toward the famous dunes of Erg Chebbi Merzouga. Finally, we will arrive at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes where we will spend two nights.
In the morning, we will visit the desert villages, among which Khamlia stands out, where we will attend a concert of Gnawa music performed by a group of black Berbers originally from Sudan and Sub-Saharan Africa. We will continue our excursion through the Erg Chebbi dunes, visiting nomads where we will have a hospitality tea with them. We will finish our visit with the fossil quarries and the authentic market of the town of Rissani. In the afternoon, we will take the camels and go on an excursion through the dunes to watch the sunset.
Breakfast and departure, passing through the town of Rissani, ancient Sijilmassa, the supply center for the old caravans coming from the Sahara. Continuing through a semi-desert landscape, we will reach the oasis of Tinghir, possibly one of the most beautiful places in Morocco. Following the Todra River, we will arrive at its impressive gorges, over 300 meters high. After a short visit to the village, we will take the route of the thousand kasbahs to reach Ouarzazate, one of the most important cities in southern Morocco, known for its intense film activity, having hosted movies such as Gladiator, Troy, The Mummy, etc. Visit of the Kasbah of Taourirt. Dinner and accommodation in the hotel.
After breakfast, we will take the route towards Ait Ben Haddou, the queen of kasbahs, declared a World Heritage Site. Then, along one of the most beautiful tracks in Morocco, we will reach the Kasbah of Telouet, the former palace of the Glaoui, Pasha of Marrakech. Continuing along a winding road, we will pass through the highest mountain pass in Morocco, Tzin Tichka (2,260 m), until we reach the imperial city of Marrakech, capital of the Great South. Accommodation in the riad.
